Junk Mail

                                        Hey🌞

Children need practice tearing paper before they practice using scissors

This idea is super simple, so don't judge me that this post is super short !

If you get junk mail/magazines you can do this or if you have any paper laying around, you can do this!

Tearing paper requires strength of the small muscles in the hand. These muscles lead to the development of handwriting, cutting , buttoning ,zipping and many more fine motor skills.

See ya 🌝

Toddler Meltdowns and Painting Outside

Heeyyyyoooooo

My kid had me in tears yesterday. He’s one and made me cry more than a angry parent when I had a job as a social worker. Why??? Because he didn’t feel well, he doesn’t know how to tell me what he needs, and he just whiiinnesss to the point of me not being able to handle the sound. Sooo yes I cried. I cried because I didn’t know what else to do 🀷🏼‍♀️
Side note:He has an ear infection

But guess who’s back back back back again ....

I sometimes forget he doesn’t know how to process his emotions yet and I get frustrated. Here’s a good article on toddlers and how they are in the process of developing that skill.

So anyway...

I was going to do this with Reese today ,but it’s supposed to rain all week 🀬

⬇️⬇️⬇️

What I am going to use is a white plastic table cloth that I bought at the Dollar Tree. I also am going to lay finger  paint , paint brushes, and different sponges for him to paint with. I will probably use thumb tacks to tack the table cloth to our fence.

Not my kid or my picture -just using it as an example ⤴️

Thank you 😊

Egg Decorating without the Mess πŸ˜‰

Happy Spring 🐣

Supplies needed-
Contact Paper
Scraps of paper, ribbon,stickers etc..
Masking tape

What do you do????

1. Draw an egg (or anything you want) on the contact paper (before you remove the back)
2. Remove the back of the contact paper and tape the sticky side facing you to the wall
3.Let your child stick the scraps of paper to the contact paper
4. When they are done cut out the object
5. Stick the object to window or wall for decoration

I found all of these supplies at the Dollar Tree . The contact paper was in the aisle mixed in the the drawer liners

I swear he has Toys 🀦🏼‍♀️

Supplies:
Box
Straws
An object to cut holes into the box

So for some reason it seems like toddlers want to play with random objects around the house . Today mine was obsessed with a cracker box even though he didn’t want to eat the crackers in the box when they were offered to him .

This activity helps your child develop new grasping skills and also allows them to learn through trial and error by maneuvering the straws in and out of the holes. These grasping skills will eventually lead to how they hold a pencil, crayon, paint brush, etc.
(And it also kept him busy with his beloved cracker box for about 10 Min)

Below is a picture to better explain what I mentioned above :

Fruit Loop And Spaghetti Fine Motor Skills

Hello all!

I have been MIA for a few weeks! It’s been busy. This week we did try out Carter’ s Play Place. It was neat and only $8 for the whole day(we only stayed for 2 hours)!

https://www.cartersplayplace.com/

Supplies-
Uncooked Spaghetti
Fruit Loops or Cheerios
Play Doh

What you do-
Take uncooked spaghetti
Stick the uncooked spaghetti in Play Doh
Demonstrate to your child how to slide the dry cereal onto the spaghetti noodle

This helps build fine motor and hand-eye coordination. If  you have an older child it helps with color recognition and pattern building skills.

My little one struggled with this a little bit so he needs a little bit more practice!
